Bye Bye Christmas!

It’s that time again where we have to take down all the Christmas Decor. It’s probably one of my top 10 dreadful things to do because it can take so long, especially when you’re a tedious person like me and everything has to be in the right spot.

So this year, I decided to do a full-blown reorganization of my Christmas bins. I’ve had ornaments since I was too young to remember! So the first thing to do was to bring up all the bins and begin to sort.UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_16d5.jpg

Go through everything and get rid of what you don’t need, what’s broken or what you can maybe even donate. Yes I know, this is a long annoying process BUT it will be worth it when next Christmas comes along and you’re not digging through your storage trying to figure out what’s what!

Usually this time of year, storage bins are on sale at most stores. I bought some of mine from Walmart and others from Lowes (basically wherever has the better sale).

Another tip I found useful for my decorations were Ziploc bags! I have a bunch of flat glitter decor that lay on tree branches in an assortment of colours. I also have several tiny ornaments that I use for accent pieces throughout the house. Places these decorations in Ziploc bags so they don’t get tangled or mixed in with the bigger ornaments.UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_16f5.jpgUNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_16e3.jpg

My wreaths all went into a big, industrial sized garbage bag. Yes it may seem awkward to do this but trust me, I’ve been doing it this way for years and haven’t damaged one yet.

Once all your ornaments are sorted by colour and your Christmas Decor is separated into bins, the next step is to LABEL LABEL LABEL, I promise you labelling will make all the difference in the world. Now it doesn’t have to be anything fancy. I’m not saying go out and purchase some label maker. If you have one, great! If not, guess what? Some good old masking tape or painters tape and a marker will work just fine!

Doing these little steps will make next Christmas easier. Everything is visible and when you start your Christmas Decor this year, you can have a clear view of what’s in what bin. I hope this helps you guys!
