What better way to kick off February 1st by preparing my daughter’s Valentine’s Day craft for her class. This was such a cute and super easy little craft to do. My daughter’s school doesn’t really allow or I should say they don’t prefer sweets as a treat option. So this was what I came up with as a great alternative. I think this is still something the kids will enjoy and have fun with.
Here’s what you’ll need:
A couple of notes about the items needed. The red bristol board I bought at the Dollar store and used a stencil to cut out heart shapes (I cannot create a heart shape on my own if my life depended on it!!). The Glow sticks I got at Party City. It was a pack of 80 for $9.99. The amount seems like a lot but you can always use them in a loot bag for a birthday party later on. The hole puncher, sharpie and glue stick, I had lying around the house.
Finally the cut out with the words was a little bit tricky for me. My printer had run out of coloured ink, so I had to get a little bit creative with this one. There was supposed to be a heart-shaped rim and the word GLOW was supposed to be in colour as well. So I made a smaller heart stencil than the bristol board heart and cut them out. I just use a pink pencil crayon to colour in the word GLOW and there you go! Don’t worry you won’t need to go through all these steps if you have coloured ink. I didn’t create this template. I came across it on Pinterest and it was available as a printable.
So once you have set yourself up and you’re ready to go, you’re going to take your printout and glue it to the red hear cut out.
At this point, you’re going to want to make sure you sign these little cards with your munchkin’s name (something I forgot to do!). You’re going to need to take your hole puncher and put two holes parallel to each other at the top and the bottom.
The last step is to weave the glow stick through the holes. The best way to do this is to bend the heart a little so that the two holes are again paralel to each other. Then slide the glow bracelet through carefully. The littlest bending you do to the bracelet will activate the glow. Don’t worry I did this quite a few times!
Just like that your craft is all done! You can add a treat to it if you want. Let me know what you all do for your kids for Valentine’s Day! Don’t forget to like and follow for more creative ideas.
