Summer Time Experiences

The summer is not over yet but we don’t have much of it left. This year I decided that I wasn’t going to let another summer slip by and not make the most of it. First on my list was to take a social media break. Don’t get me wrong, this didn’t mean I wasn’t using social media but I definitely was not as active. I knew that I wanted to make this summer about my family and kids.

Here in Toronto, when the August long weekend hits, you just feel like summer is coming to an end and it is now time to start planning back to school for the kiddos. But before I go down that sad road of summer coming to an end, I really want to share a few things I did that was either my first time or completely out of my comfort zone. First off, we did the typical road trip to Niagara Falls. We are no strangers to this spot. We go often enough and it’s always a fun experience!

Exiting my comfort zone was something I tackled. When it comes to my hair, I very rarely experiment out of darker hair colours. I have done highlights before and did not like the outcome of it. I have made several attempts to go to the hair salon with the intention of doing either highlights or a balayage and end up coming back home with a little trim because I chickened out. I found an awesome stylist through instagram and O-M-G, she was amazing. It was the first time in a LONG time I felt like a human again!

New Girl, Who Dis?

Anyone who know’s me knows that one thing I’ve always wanted to do was go to a concert and guess what?!?! I did it! I was able to check that off my imaginary bucket list. I went to see JLo and man that woman is everything! I wish I could move half as good as she does at my age of 30 and this chick just turned 50!!! Getting a little taste of the concert life, definitely makes me want to do it again for sure.

About a week later, we experienced another first. We rented a cottage for the weekend and let me tell you, it is the msot peaceful, serene thing to do. I highly recommend doing this as a mini family getaway. It was so nice getting away from the city and just unwinding. We will be for sure making this a thing to do every summer! It may have been a record set for the longest anyone went not using some sort of electronic, it was awesome.

Finally, the latest new thing I became apart of was a little mom’s group from my daughter’s school. Let me just say (coming from someone who doesn’t get out much), it is very nice having some other parents to chit chat with and have adult conversations with. I love our little group of ladies and look forward to our new found friendship (you know who you are ladies!!).

So yes, I went on a little hiatus from social media and blogging but this is why! I wanted time to just focus on my family and enjoy summer to the max. It’s not over yet! We do have an upcomming trip that I’m excited/nervous about that I will share later this month. Don’t forget to like and follow for Creative Mom adventures!
